Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): How to Get Your Business Recommended by AI

Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the practice of structuring your website and online presence so AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find your business, understand what it does and recommend it when someone asks a question. Where classic SEO fights for a position in a list of links, AEO fights to be the answer.
Why AEO matters now
More people ask an AI tool for a recommendation before they open a search results page. A question such as "which agency in Dhaka builds ecommerce websites" now often gets a short written answer with a few named businesses. If your business is not clear to the AI, it is simply not named. That is why modern SEO services now include AI visibility alongside rankings.
How answer engine optimization works
AI tools build answers from pages they can read, from structured data, and from what other trusted sources say about you. They prefer information that is direct, consistent and easy to verify. Your job is to make all three simple.
1. Answer the question first
Put the direct answer in the first two sentences of a page, then explain. A page that opens with a clear definition or recommendation is far easier for an AI to quote than one that starts with a long introduction.
2. Add structured data
Schema markup tells machines exactly what a page is. Organization, Service, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList schema are the most useful for a service business. Our guide to choosing a digital marketing agency in Dhaka uses this approach.
3. Keep your business facts identical everywhere
Use the same name, description, services and social links on your website, LinkedIn, Facebook and any directory listing. When these sources disagree, AI tools become less certain about who you are.
4. Publish an llms.txt file
An llms.txt file is a short plain-text summary of your business and key pages, placed at the root of your site. It is not a guarantee, but it costs almost nothing and gives AI crawlers a clean starting point. Also make sure your robots.txt does not block AI crawlers you want to reach you.
5. Show real proof
Case studies, named clients with permission, and honest descriptions of the work done are strong trust signals. See how we present ours on the Bizwyse portfolio. Never publish invented reviews or numbers, since AI tools and people both check.
6. Earn mentions on trusted sites
Directory profiles, industry articles and genuine reviews act like references. They help an AI decide that your business is real and relevant.
A simple AEO checklist
- Each service has its own page with a direct answer in the first paragraph.
- Every page has a FAQ section with real customer questions.
- FAQPage, Service and Organization schema are present and valid.
- llms.txt and sitemap.xml are live and current.
- Your profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook and directories match your website.
- You publish helpful articles on the questions buyers actually ask.
How to check whether it is working
Ask the same buying questions in several AI tools every few weeks and note whether your business is named, and where. Also watch branded searches and referral traffic in Google Analytics and Search Console. Google explains how its own systems read structured content in the Google Search Central documentation.
Where to start
Start with your most important service page: rewrite the first paragraph as a direct answer, add a FAQ, add schema, and make your business details consistent everywhere. If you want help, talk to the Bizwyse team and we will review your site for AI visibility.
